Table setting or Table Scaping is a great way to create that inviting, party feeling without too much extra work. Keeping your decorating sustainable can be tricky, as your main choice is to reuse what you already have, or find eco solutions. We have a few easy tips to ensuring a stunning table for Christmas, whilst keeping it eco.

Use a Neutral Base

The trick to creating a beautiful scheme for your table is to keep either the mix of materials and or colours to a minimum.  Most base colours for the table cloth can be made festive through accessories, so don’t shy away from unusual, non-traditional Yuletide colours. A cream runner will set off any decoration colour as a blank background. A nature-inspired green can work just as well during spring or summer paired with crisp whites, bottle green glasses and yellow flowers. For Christmas, bringing metallics and a pop of red gives a classic seasonal feel.

Shop Sustainably

Look for decorative treasures in your local charity shops, or buy inexpensive fabrics you can use time and time again. We’ve been known to buy old curtains, wash and trim them down as table coverings.

Get Natural

Think sustainably about Christmas.  Using natural elements like fir cones, twigs, cinnamon sticks and natural twine on a linen table cloth is a great look and it can all be recycled or composted.

You don’t even have to be too deliberate about your woodland arrangements, placing a delicate branch down the centre of the table will give you a great 3D structure to arrange around. Add ornaments and battery-operated mini lights too.  Just be careful of lit candles!
